Enhanced central subsidy on LPG refills under the Ujjwala scheme has made clean cooking fuel the cheapest in India compared to neighboring countries. Average consumption of Ujjwala households has increased to 3.8 refills per year due to the subsidy. The Central subsidy is now Rs 500 per refill, making the effective price for Ujjwala households Rs 603 in Delhi.
