India’s three more wetlands get global tag of international importance

India's Nanjarayan Bird Sanctuary, Kazhuveli Bird Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, and Tawa Reservoir in Madhya Pradesh have been designated as Ramsar sites of international importance. The Union environment minister attributed this achievement to the Prime Minister's consistent efforts in environmental conservation. This brings India's tally of Ramsar sites to 85, covering an area of over 1.3 million hectares. Global Ramsar sites now total 2520.
